Do you want to know what's going on?
I'm glad to say hello all of you! My
name is Daria and I’m a fourth-year student at NSPU. I study German and English
languages and this year I have “Public Speech” classes, so I’ve decided to do
this blog. I’m sure it will help me to see my progress and be better at
this particular topic.
So, let’s
start then. First day of new discipline was absolutely nervous. You know, it's like an unexplored area for me. Our first task was to tell about our past year, we were meant to choose
three-five main events of the year and present them to our groupmates and teacher. We also recorded our speech and now I need to analyze my speech and
write about three things that I liked the most about it and three things that
need to be improved.
Here is the
video of my speech:
So three
things that I liked about my speech are:
1) My
emotions
It is
obvious that I’ve enjoyed my speech, especially you can see it at the moment
when I was speaking about becoming a godmother.
2) Body
language
I was open
to the audience and wasn’t afraid to use gestures (I was waving my hands, smiling).
I wanted to tell my story and I hope it worked out.
3) The
composition of the speech
Almost all
of the events that I’ve chosen were about adventures and I’ve done it on
purpose, because I wanted my presentation to be complete and coherent.
And three
things that I think need improvement:
1) Reading
I was
peeping into my notes a lot and I think that I need to be more confident and
try to speak without my notebook, because it is way better for the audience.
2) “Body
image”
I was
fixing my hair a lot and was trying to “fix” my appearance and I’m sure that it
was because I was very nervous and tried to calm myself down.
3) Pauses
and “erm”
When I lost
my thoughts I made a lot of pauses and it was distracting. I definitely need to
work on it and avoid so much pauses.
That’s it
for today. Hope you enjoyed this post, because I like the task a lot.
