Social Psychology. Part 2
Hey, everyone! How's it going? I'm back to give you new info about my Social Psychology course. You know, every week we have new video lectures and then, course, a test. Well, our issue is "How do we form perceptions about people?"
During the videos, the lecturer spoke about such important concepts as social categorization, attribution, heuristics, etc. In particular, our Public Speech teacher told us to pay attention to such terms as the effect of self- fulfilling prophecy and the prototype. I just explain you them in general. Well, the effect of self-fulfilling prophecy is a kind of behaviour of a person. So when we have some expectations about our partner in a certain situation. I mean his or her basic features are familiar to us and we can suppose how this person will act in concrete circumstances. Thus, we behave towards our partner in a way which confirms our expectations. Curious, isn't it? And the second one is prototype. It's easier. Prototype, for this very subject, is a description of the most prominent representative of a particular social category. These concepts are very helpful to know for improving public speaking. I explain you why in the next posts.
At last, let's have a look at my test results. See below.
As you can observe, it isn't perfect, but better then I guess.
Thank you for reading this post. Hope you find it informative. Try starting this course too.
