The effect of self-fulfilling prophecy

Hi, I'm here again. As you remember, in the previous post I've shared with you the info about Social Psychology course. Actually, for today the key term is the effect of full-filling prophecy. I'm going to explain you how this concept connected to public speaking. Are you ready?

Everyone wants to feel confident when performing in front of a large audience, and it's often complicated process. Let's see how the effect of self-fulfilling prophecy can help us. However, it's worth noting that it can also worsen our performance, so we should be very careful. Let me remind you that the effect of self - fulfilling prophecy is a prediction that affects reality in a way that turns out to be true. Belief in something affects people's behavior and the situation as a whole, so it becomes a reality. 

Let's look at the connection between the effect of self-fulfilling prophecy and the stage fright. I think everyone knows what stage fright is. Probably, even somebody have experienced it. I'm the kind of person who still doesn't feel completely comfortable when speaking in front of a big number of people, especially if you need to give a speech. When a person is afraid to perform, then unconsciously he begins to program himself for failure. "Now everyone will look at me, and what if I forget the text. Oh, I look so ridiculous. What should I do with my hands, how should I move? My face will blush again. I'm so scared!"Familiar, isn't it? Actually, I think it's how we provoke the effect of self-fulfilling prophecy. We so convince ourselves of failure that we unconsciously wait for it to happen. But at the same time, this effect can be a helper for us. We just have to change our expectations of ourselves. Just say to yourself : "I am confident, I will succeed, I will look great, people will like my speech." Course, it's difficult to achieve success from the first time, but by practicing everything will work out. I'd like to recommend John Kehoe's book "Mind power into 21 century." It may be useful for many people to understand better the effect of self-fulfilling prophecy.
