How to get attention of the audience at the very beginning?

Hello, everyone! How are you? Today I'm going tp present you 21 links to TED's speeches and my task is to rate the introductions of speakers.

The topics of the speeches are really curious, some of them will get your attention at the very beginning anf you won't be able to stop watching them. I hope you'' find something useful for you there.
So let's look at my rate of the introductions.

Here you can see the scale:
1- No (Don't like it at all);
2- No rather than Yes;
3- Yes rather than No;
4- Yes (Like it);
5- Absolutely yes (Like it very much).

Firstly, I'd like to say that some of the speeches didn't interest me just because of their topics. Even there are a story or an interesting videos at the beginning - it doesn't attract me.
In most cases, I gave a high score if the speaker used a story about a real-life event, a joke, or images in the introduction. In some cases, even simple rhetorical questions attracted my attention, but again it all depends on whether you are interested in this issue or not.
Actually, the most productive way to attract the listeners is to tell a story. It should be a story from your own life, because this is what causes genuine emotions in the speaker.

So in my future speech I'd like to use a story at the beginning. Real-life story. I think it can help me to get and then hold the attention of the audience.

That's it for now. Leave your comments and tell me what videos you like most.
