It's time to "speak up" #5
Hey! Here is the new part of my group's performances. Today I'm going to evaluate three speeches of my groupmates which have been presented previous week. They all are connected and make up a complete picture of what speech consists of and how to organize it correctly.
So we had three topics:
1. Introduction;
2. Body;
3. Conclusion.
I'm going to start with Vika. She spoke about the very first issue. Let's evaluate her speech.
1. Introduction
- What technique(s) was used in the introduction?
As for me, Vika's introductory gets attention the whole audience. She used, I can say, "quotation" by Joanne Rowling, where the author expressed her fear speaking in front of the audience in Harvard. It's always complicated to make up the commencement which impresses your audience.
- Any link-element?
- Was the thesis statement given?
The thesis here is very clear: "And this leads me to my thesis, which is - an introduction can “make” or “break” you as a speaker because it sets the tone for the remainder of speech."
- How effective was the introduction?

Vika used outlining that is very important in any speech. Moreover. she supported her speech with visual material. Every part of the body was connected with link-words.
